Hey guys!

I really enjoyed last lesson with Mandy, basically we had to interpret our version of the nativity (In pairs, i was with Sian). So we decided to interpret it in Sign language (As i can speak it), we started off with me signing and Sian copying me, but she found that difficult, so we then decided for Sian to read it out then i interpreted that in sign. Mandy then videod us and we uploaded that to show the rest of the class. It was really fun :)

So, thats my last blog of 2011! Hope everybody has a fab christmas and an awesome new year! :D

Placement week

Hey everyone! Hope you've all had a fab placement week, i know i have!

I've had an amazing time in placement, learnt so much from it, definetly want that to be my career now after experiencing it. Teaching deaf children is so much more rewarding, its also so different to teaching a mainstream class, there's so many different aspects and ways of learning that is much more interesting.

Also my sign language has imporived so much, signing a christmas concert is a new accomplishment i can add to the list! haha

Well not long now till christmas!!! Can't wait to actually have lay-ins! woop woop!!

Reflection on animation

Really enjoyed last weeks lesson! Had a lot of fun creating my animation on www.delicious.com

Still havent finished my essay for andy, got about 2-300 words left now, so nearly there! haha

Looking forward to placement week, it'll be nice to have a normal routine, sort of lay-ins and to play loads of games all week!

Wiki pages

Hey guys! Last week in the seminar we continued adding and changing our wiki pages, this was really frustating as always i didnt know what i was doing, my mind went blank! we had to make the layout of the page look better, so i added some videos and pictures that were associated with our groups topic: education in 20 years, which was a hard topic to think that far ahead, i have no imagination!!!

Rant of the week

Hey everyone!

Well, research week went too quick. Managed to do the majority of the work set, which was almost an impossible task for me! haha! Have made the official decision that referencing sucks, tried to reference a particular quote, took me an hour! Ridiculous! I think it's gonna take a while to get to grips with that, hopefully i'll get it, hopefully.

Well, made my idea for the project final. Just gotta think of how i'm gonna set it all out, and the final piece. Got an idea for that, but i can't draw . . . so a little flaw in my plan! I'll have to brush up on my artistic skills, can't even draw a stick man properly! haha

That's my rant over for today, will probably have a new rant next week, toodles!

Assignment ideas

Hey everyone!
Well, as soon as Mandy told us about the assignment i went into panic mode almost instantly (The norm for me the last few weeks!) I'm not the most creative person when it actually comes to the ideas part of it; once i've got an idea or a general concept, i seem to be fine after that, ideas seem to flow freely (as long as i write them down straight away haha) and once i've got a proper plan i'm on a roll!

I've been racking my brain all the time, and ive sort of come up with something, but it's gonna take a lot of work and a lot of paper/notes!

The thing i panic about with stuff like this, is that my idea isnt going to be good enough or just rubbish, so once i've come up with a better plan i'll let y'all know :)

Reflection

Hey guys! In the last lecture, we had to go on bubbl.us to create our own mind map based on the one we had completed as a whole group using the interactive white board. It was based on what we think reflective learning us, e.g: Looking back over past experiences and noticing strengths and weaknesses. Which i found relatively easy, until it came to the uploading to our blogs part! :p

We then had to search on the internet for five different blogs sites on a particular topic (I chose special needs), once we had done this we had to add a gadget to our blog called 'My blog list' so that people could access these sites from my homepage, and see what i am interested in. An example of one of my chosen blogs would be Disability Scoop, which i found interesting as it gives information on so many different aspects that people need to know about.

Anyway, all in all it was a very productive lesson , got a lot done and enjoyed.

Evaluation of presentation :)

Hey, back again!

Our presentation was based on the topic of sign language as Rhian, Emily and i have taken sign lessons, and lydia was interested in it. We all found a site each regarding that topic, and decided on the two sites we would use, discussing the pros and cons of each site, site colon, easywhois, copyrighted, last updated etc.

The website that we used was http://www.signpostbsl.com/, there were many faults with this site e.g: boring, not connected to the itv website through appearances, not updated recently etc. We also used another site http://www.british-sign.co.uk/ as a good example of a website. There were many good things about this website, e.g: colourful, loads of games, correct information, updated recently, copyrighted etc.

All in all, i think the presentation that we did was good :)

My name is Rhiannon, i am currently studying Educational Studies in Swansea Met Uni. I am really interested in Sign Language, so i would like my future career to involve this. Hopefully i will either become a special needs teacher or a sign language interpreter.
